I am getting a distinct impression that my Grandma liked salads or at least vegetables. It has been a long held belief that vegetables led to good health. I think they're fine, make good medicine, and can be enjoyable, but my personal belief is that animal products, especially from ruminants, provide way more nutrition in an easily accessible form for humans. But I digress...
I do remember this particular recipe. It's from the kitchen of one of my aunts. Her name withheld, of course. It was one of the few ways I found raw cauliflower tolerable as a teen. Quick, easy, tasty, veggies, made better by a few additions!
Let's get to it!

Chop fresh broccoli. Instructions and ingredients in one! No quantities, I love this recipe! Go with one head of broccoli. Chop into manageable pieces, like you would for a veggie tray.
Chop fresh cauliflower. Same as for broccoli.
Chop onion. One onion for starters. Any variety you like. Appropriately sized for a salad.
Grated longhorn cheese. As much as you like. Can't find longhorn cheese? Use cheddar or whatever cheese you like best.
Bacon bits. Is it even worth eating without the bacon? Make your own by dicing up bacon and frying it until crisp. Please. But if you're dead set on buying the packaged ones, I'm not your mom.
Croutons. Whatever type you like, homemade ones are easy and tasty.
Mix well. Add Hidden Valley Ranch Salad dressing. Obviously as much dressing as you like.
Well that's easy enough! I will add: do this in a large salad bowl. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. This one stays crunchy for several days, with the exception of the croutons and bacon bits. I have a recipe for ranch dressing, if you're interested in making your own, also bacon.
But that's not all, folks!
My Grandma taped two more recipes to the back of this one!

Not one, but two more salad recipes! Ha ha! Outside of not being sure if CHINA BOY chow mein noodles are still around, I think you can follow these recipes without a lot of interference from me.
This was so my Grandma. And not a bad idea to this day. If you have a recipe you've clipped, why not tape or glue it to the blank back of a recipe card?
I hope you're enjoying these recipes as much as I am. Thanks for being here!
