Some Pipe Tobaccos I Enjoy

Disclaimer: I think disclaimers are dumb. But, I am about to talk about pipe tobacco. I smoke pipe tobaccos and cigars. If you couldn't tell from the title of this post, well, just see yourself out now. Do your own research, think for yourself, own your choices in life. I will not make those choices for you, nor do I own your choices.

While not a daily smoker by any means, I do enjoy the occasional pipe of tobacco. I thought I'd share some of my favorite blends with you fine folks. If you're of the mind, I would be happy to share more on the subject of pipe smoking, let me know. I'll probably do it anyway, though.

On Repeat

These are the blends I buy on repeat, because I really enjoy them. I am not going to link to any of these. You can find them online of course, but the best thing would be to see if your local shop carries them or would be willing to order it for you.

  • Petersen's Elizabethan Mixture.

  • Cornell and Diehl's Low Country Atalaya.

  • Cornell and Diehl's Byzantium.

  • Peter Stokkebye's 306 English Oriental Supreme.

None of the above blends are aromatic, meaning flavored. These are straight blends of tobaccos. I am not great at describing what I like about each. I don't have the pallet, so to speak. Nevertheless, I do like the raisin-y flavor of Virginias, and the funky undertones that Perique and Orientals bring.

The Elizabethan and the English Oriental are very pleasant, light smoking blends. Atalaya and Byzantium lay more heavily on the funky side. But are equally as enjoyable.

Something Sweet

When I want a flavored smoke, something sweet, and I want to make the air around me perfumed, I smoke an aromatic blend. These are the ones I buy again and again.

  • Cult Blood Red Moon.

  • Cornell and Diehl's Autumn Evening.

  • Cornell and Diehl's Apricots and Cream.

  • Sutliff's Vanilla Custard.

Two of these have the flavor profile in the name, the other two do not, so let's talk about those first.

Blood Red Moon is cherry flavored. But unlike any other cherry tobacco I've had. It's not weirdly flavored, it's good! It's flavorful without being over-powering. I really like it!

Autumn Evening is predominantly maple syrup flavored. I think there's a little vanilla or liqueur flavor as well. It smells amazing while it burns. Such a pleasant smoke, too.

Apricots and Cream is delightful. As with almost all aromatics, a feast for the nose of everyone else around.

Vanilla Custard is another mild choice of mine. It is a more subtle flavor, but quite enjoyable.

That's the short list of pipe tobaccos I enjoy on repeat. If you smoke a pipe, or are looking to get into it, I think most of the blends on my list are approachable. Just like with food though, we all have a unique pallet. I would love to hear what blends you like, send me an email! (I am hoping for a comment option soon from systeme.io.)

Just for fun, a few pictures of my pipes. Yes, I really only own two. My (pipe) dream is to expand my collection.

Both of them are Savinelli's. I find the quality to be excellent for the price. The first one is a churchwarden, meaning it has a longer stem. I prefer the cooler smoke from it. The second pipe is a bent billiard style. It smokes well, although a little hotter than my churchwarden. I really like it's blue color!

Thanks for being here! See you soon!
