Grandma Files: An Old Betty Crocket Recipe Insert

I'm a sucker for old-fashioned feeling things. This pull from my Grandma's file hits all the right notes. Let's take a look, shall we?

Obviously Betty Crocker (General Mills) was advertising several of their products, that's what these free recipes are for. I had to look up what WONDRA flour was. I've never used it. I've included the link so you can see what it is as well.

I believe 'dessert topping mix' is something like Dream Whip.

That smudged line in the Carnival Cake recipe for the Creamy Nut Filling reads, "In saucepan mix sugar and flour, stir in milk. Heat to boiling..."

I will always suggest you use real food ingredients and not food like products. This means butter instead of margarine, whipped cream instead of dessert topping. There are substitutes for corn syrup as well, depending on how the corn syrup is being used in a recipe. You can do some research on that yourself. I am well aware that these are desserts, but that doesn't mean throwing all caution out the window when it comes to your health. It's not perfect, we don't aim for that around here, but it is a little bit better, and that's what we are after.

I hope you're enjoying these recipes! If you haven't yet, consider subscribing to my free newsletter to keep up on the latest posts. Thanks for being here! See you soon!
